Darshan is credited as being a dynamic team player, highly skilled in all aspects of financial and investment markets. He has to his credit, led teams that have successfully managed a large number of IPOs, M&As, and debt raisings and in doing so, introduced to the country new products and achieved record breaking results. Darshan is renowned in the industry as a corporate advisory specialist, specialising in areas of business due diligence, fund raising and restructuring. Darshan has also been instrumental in leading NDBIB to win numerous international and local awards for consecutive years.

Key Experience

Initial Public Offerings

• Team Leader for the successful completion of several large initial public offerings on the Colombo Stock Exchange and the Maldives Stock Exchange, including the Initial Public Offerings of Dialog Axiata, Lanka IOC, People’s Leasing & Finance and Ooredoo Maldives.

Mergers and Acquisition

• Team member for the divestiture of 100% stake in Unawatuna Beach Resort to the Calamander Group in Singapore
• Team member for the divestiture of an 86% stake in Beira Parawood Products to a consortium led by LOLC and Hirdaramani Group

Other Key Transactions

• Team member in the development and designing of a comprehensive Financial Management Information System (FMIS) at Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC)
• Instrumental in successful privatisation of Pelwatte Sugar Industries Ltd and valuation of the company on behalf of Master Divers (Pvt) Ltd
• Valuation Specialist for Dialog Axiata Rights Issue, largest ever equity issue in Sri Lanka. Further, was instrumental in structuring and placement of preference share issue of Dialog Axiata
• Engaged in providing corporate advisory services to clients in matters relating to CSE/SEC with respect to mandatory offers, rights issues, delistings, repurchase of shares, etc

Prior to joining NDBIB, Darshan held senior management positions in a number of large organisations and banking institutions, including serving as an Assistant Vice President at Vanik Incorporation. Darshan's career is enriched with a myriad of different academic disciplines. He holds a B.Sc. in Physical Science and an MBA from the University of Colombo. He is an associate member of the Institute of Bankers, Sri Lanka and of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK. He also holds the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants qualification.
